ORBIS is a non-aligned, non-profit blindness prevention organization that envisions a world where no one is needlessly blind, where sustainable quality eye care, education and treatment are available, accessible and affordable to all.

Established in 1982, ORBIS has worked in more than 83 countries across the globe, enabling governments, hospitals and eye care professionals to deliver quality eye care to the millions who are blind or at the risk of going blind, through its innovative training tools-the DC-10 Flying Eye Hospital, short-term Hospital Based Training Programs, and Telemedicine.

On the ground ORBIS has initiated long-term programs in India, Ethiopia, China, Bangladesh and Vietnam, nations that share the greater burden of blindness, with the aim to build eye care and blindness prevention infrastructure on a larger scale.

In India, ORBIS has identified Childhood Blindness and Eye Donation & Eye Banking as well as advocating for suitable policies in eye care as its areas of intervention. As a founding signatory of Vision 2020-Right to Sight, ORBIS is committed to strengthening its India initiatives through appropriate research, networking and policy influencing.

Allergan India Limited headquartered in Bangalore is a multi national pharmaceutical company specialising in eye related formulations and products. Allergan has achieved leadership position globally in its chosen line of products due to its product features and quality. Allergan India Limited has been associated with EBAI for many years and has helped sponsor HCRP projects as well as the web site upgradation and maintenance.

International Federation of Eye Banks of which EBAI is a member has been providing technical and other resources to strengthen EBAI as well as Eye Banking in the country. IFEB has provided various eye bank supplies as well as has trained EBAI and eye bank personnel.

Margadarsi Chifunds Limited, headquartered at Hyderabad is part of the Ramoji Rao Group. It is the leader in the chitfunds sector in A.P and is a very well known house hold name in the south. Margadarsi has partnered with EBAI and has sponsored a five year HCRP project.

North West Lions Eye Foundation based at Seattle, USA has been providing technical and financial assistance to EBAI for its activities. NLEF has committed funds to help EBAI in its fund raising initiatives over a three year period. NLEF has also trained EBAI and EBAI member eye bank personnel in eye banking.

ESI-ORBIS-LVPEI International Training and Resource Center for Eye banking & Corneal Transplantation situated at Ramayamma International Eye Bank, Hyderabad has been training eye bank personnel of the eye banks under the EBAI -ORBIS HCRP project. The institution has also been training eye bank personnel from all over the country. Ramayamma International Eye Bank has been providing MK media to all member eye banks for many years.
